I've just finished the first draft of the Leaf Protocol!

It's a data layer on top of the #willowprotocol seeking help build a "Web of Data" for the #agenticfediverse.

I'm going to be working on a prototype very soon, built on #iroh for use in the Weird project:

@mauve @silverpill @smallcircles Definitely! I'll be adding the draft specification to this repo as soon as I can:

Re target audience: I think the hope is to empower user-respecting, inter-operable applications to develop easier than they could without it.

Basically, we want to support the idea of the #agenticfediverse, a concept we're still attempting to describe in the repo linked to above.

So maybe the audience is everybody who wants to be respected by their apps.

Thoughts on making a "Web of Data" instead of a "Web of Pages", and how that might let us take a step away from the dominance of large, complicated browsers.

The article is kind of a summary of responses I gave to @smallcircles 's interesting post and other replies here:

Eventually we'll move this page to be hosted as an https://weird.one links page.

@fediversereport interesting to see a couple community labelers quit. I feel like fundamentally the labeling system makes a lot of sense, and is very similar to what me and some colleagues have envisioned for the #agenticfediverse.

It seems to me that the community drama over moderation is bound to happen, and that it may be difficult initially to both find trustworthy moderators, and to gain the trust of the community, but it's a far cry better than just being forced to trust facebook.

Excellent article by @zicklag about the next generation of #federation, that the people around #Commune are envisioning and working on.

How to Federate?

Thoughts on the challenges and design of federated software.

There are many challenges when designing federated applications. Here I share thoughts that I've been developing with the Commune group, as we envision a fediverse of agents, not a fediverse of servers.
