Activist (non-violent)

Maybe the most important artist of our generation.

Was mache ich falsch?

Need You Tonight

Drumming since kindergarten, Jon Farriss was a veteran in his craft already back in the mid-80s. The drums and rythm on their biggest hit really was what put INXS into the international spotlight. IMHO.

You’re one of my kind.

The video was OK’ish, but these few seconds featuring him are the memorable ones. Charming rascal, isn’t he?

Meet Daisy

Tormod Viking

This is Daisy. She has become a Stockholm icon after spending most of her life in Scandinavia. She was built in Long Beach, Los Angles, California as a C-47 A-60-DL Skytrain, which is a military version of the DC-3, including a large cargo door, reinforced floor and high capacity fuel tanks. Originally delivered to the US Army Air Forces on October 5. 1943 as USAAF serial number 43-30723. Her first assignment later that month was to Oran in Algeria, transporting troops, goods and supplies. In 1944, she was re-assigned to England as part of the allied invasion on D-Day. Mutiple reports place her at the scene during the offensive on June 6. 1944.

She was sold to the Norwegian operator DNL (Det Norske Luftfartselskap) in 1946 and received the registration number LN-IAF. Two years later, the national airline carries of Norway, Sweden and Denmark joined forces and founded Scandinavian Airline Systems – SAS. This was when she got the “dragon paint” seen in this image. (Okay, I *did* change the name on the nose. Tormod is a much better viking name anyway…)

Currently known as “Daisy”

She’s had multiple apperances her since then, but the original SAS look was returned to her 1986.

She not only looks good; she also has a strong, distinctive but beautiful voice…

Today, her care is provided by the non-profit member organisation Flygande Veteraner in Sweden.

The image was drawn using Affinity Designer on iPad, only using vectors and vector-effects. A special thans to Måns Grebäck for providing the wonderful SAS-styled typeface. Flighter Personal can be found here, or a fully licensed version available here.
