So it's been over 2 weeks since I got the #adenoidectomy surgery. It has literally changed my life. Before, I was always groggy with low energy, quick to anger with mood swings. I had pushed most of my family away with my outbursts and made things stressful for my wife.
After the surgery, my sleep quality has improved 1000%. The #sleepapnea my enlarged #adenoid was causing went away along with the anger and mood swings. I have so much more energy and am fully alert now. Before, I nodded off most of the day and would be exhausted halfway through the day regardless of what I did that day. I had constant brain fog as well. That's all gone now.
In a way, getting a #herniated disk in my neck saved me. My wonderful wife @polarisu recognized this when I thought I had back pain. I got the #MRI I needed to diagnose the condition, which also found the enlarged adenoid that was causing myself and everyone around me misery. She saved my life. Again (I had a precancerous mole removed years ago, thanks to her noticing and having me see a dermatologist).
This just goes to show how critical sleep is to your mental and physical health. If you think you have these symptoms, I urge you to speak with an #ENT. All it takes to find it is a quick endoscopy up your nose to see it.
3rd #surgery down for the year. #adenoidectomy was successful, and I'm resting up at home now.
I have a bit of a sore throat, but I'm already breathing easier. I'm very hopeful the #sleepapnea will finally go away, and I won't feel wiped out most of the week anymore.
I tell ya, the #adenoidectomy can't come soon enough. I spend most of the week on the verge of exhaustion due to the #sleepapnea, and it seems to be interfering with work now.
Earlier in the day, I had a call with a colleague and wanted to share my screen. I couldn't find the button. After said colleague shared theirs instead to get to the page I was talking about, I found it. At the bottom of the GUI...with a big button that said "SHARE SCREEN".
Later, I received an e-mail asking to see if someone on my team could troubleshoot a potential issue of a closed port blocking needed traffic from one server to the other. I read it as "Server A" to "Sever B" even though it was actually "Server A" to "Server C."
So incorrectly, assuming A to B, I saw the required ingress port was closed for Server B and opened it up. I replied to the email and said it was all set. I then get a response with: "Thanks, but it was actually A to C."
So I walked back the port I opened in error and tried opening ingress on A even though it's A to C, since a colleague mentioned they had to do that once to solve a similar issue. No go, but it's EOD for me, so I'll have to check again tomorrow.
I saw my surgeon for a post-surgical #neckfusion follow-up last week. The steri-strips came off, and I was cleared to drive and lift up to ~15 lbs again. After another 2 weeks, I can bump it up to 25 lbs.
I have my next appointment in a few weeks. I'll also be seeing my otolaryngologist the same day. My neurosurgeon said I should be cleared for the #adenoidectomy, so I'm hoping that I can get scheduled asap.
I've already had a noticeable difference. I have almost zero pain in my neck/back/shoulders/arms. It only flares a little if I start pushing my weight lifting limits, but goes back to normal with some rest. Driving and walking for even extended periods doesn't hurt anymore.
I'm looking to get back to exercising once I'm healed enough from the neck fusion and upcoming adenoidectomy. Between no more pain or sleep apnea, I should finally have the energy to do it.
So I didn't die. I'm relaxing at home now. Aside from that-
The good news:
#Biopsy went well. I don't feel much pain, aside from a sore throat from the breathing tube and a sore sinus on the right side from the #endoscopy and biopsy. The #anesthesia wore off pretty quickly. No nausea and I still have my usual overactive appetite lol.
The bad news:
Results of the biopsy could take up to two weeks. I'm not really concerned since the doctor wasn't worried since I show no symptoms of something serious. My wife is really stressed and worried about it so I'm just worried about her. :-(
Also, the #adenoidectomy was canceled since they were concerned about the #herniateddisc in my neck. So I have to deal with not sleeping so great for awhile longer as well as snoring and keeping my wife awake. :-( I have a neck #fusion scheduled for next month so the adenoidectomy will have to wait for when I recover from that.
My wife is now babying me with some delicious #Filipino soup. I don't like to be dotted on but with her excellent food I won't say no to that part. đ I'm going to just relax and maybe play some #Hitman2 and #TMNT #ShreddersRevenge today. đ
