Just across the #Acushnet River from where I live, #NewBedford, #Massachusetts. got an all-time record 37 inches of snow in this #Blizzard of '26. My house lost power for just an hour during the storm, but others in #FairhavenMA were out for 30 hours or more. Some still have no power since early Monday morning. Many roads are still not cleared. My little house is in good shape, but we still can't really leave it yet, except on foot.
A Tombstone Tuesday offering. This is the tombstone of Lt. Jonathan Delano who settled in Fairhaven, MA (then Dartmouth) in the 1600s. He was the son of Philippe de Lanoy, who arrived in Plymouth in 1621 on the Fortune, and cousin of John Cooke, a passenger on the Mayflower. Delano was an ancestor of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, who frequently visited his grandfather's home in Fairhaven.
Lt. Jonathan Delano died in 1720 in his 73ed year. He was buried in Acushnet Cemetery
