Write. Struggle. Thrive: Doing Hard Things is Great
But quickly, I remembered why I fell in love with writing in the first place. Each session pushed my mental boundaries, challenged my assumptions, and reignited my creativity.
Because at the end of the day, writing isn’t just about publishing, it’s about sharpening the mind and creating something deeply human.
It’s tough. But that’s exactly why I love it.

Neuroscience supports this Darius’s lived experience. Our brain releases more dopamine when we accomplish hard things. The harder it is, the more dopamine is released. Dopamine also supports habit forming behavior creating a virtuous loop.
The key is to keep making things slightly harder – progressive overload – enough that it feels hard but not enough to result in a failure. Once you find that, almost everything becomes both intense and satisfying and habit forming.
And if you get good at reframing all that you do or are interested in this form, you can achieve whatever you want.
