Il Fatto Quotidiano: Hormuz, la nave da crociera Msc Euribia passa dopo 45 giorni di attracco forzato a Dubai
Un viaggio verso il Nord Europa. Una navigazione tra i fiordi norvegesi che rappresentano uno degli spettacoli naturali più suggestivi, se visti dall’acqua. Questo era il programma della Msc Euribia, la cui crociera ha subito un “imprevisto” un mese e mezzo nel Golfo Persico a causa della guerra in Iran e del blocco dello stretto di Hormuz. Niente passeggeri, niente spettacoli e cene con il comandante. Solo l’equipaggio ridotto al minimo.
La tappa forzata però sembra concludersi. Secondo i dati AIS, l’unità della compagnia di Gianluigi Aponte naviga a circa 22 nodi e ha quasi doppiato la penisola di Musandam, all’estremità settentrionale dell’Oman, risultando di fatto quasi fuori dallo Stretto di Hormuz. La Euribia procede in un convoglio di altre navi da crociera: seguono la Celestyal Journey, la Mein Schiff 4 e la Mein Schiff 5 della compagnia TUI Cruises. Inoltre, nel gruppo c’è anche la Aroya Manara di Cruise Saudi, nave la cui destinazione finale è Taranto, in occasione dei Giochi del Mediterraneo di agosto.
Dal 28 febbraio, quando la tensione tra Stati Uniti, Israele e Iran è divenuta guerra aperta, circa 17.000 passeggeri hanno dovuto fare di necessità virtù, rinunciando al viaggio mentre le navi sono rimaste bloccate tra Doha, Abu Dhabi e Dubai. Proprio in quest’ultima località ha trascorso un mese e mezzo la Msc Euribia, con equipaggio ridotto al minimo; la compagnia è stata costretta a cancellare gli itinerari previsti a maggio nel Nord Europa. Di fronte ad una guerra in Medio Oriente, si dirà che l’ultimo dei problemi è rappresentato da navi di lusso costrette ad attraccare in porti del Golfo. In realtà, la situazione vissuta dalla Euribia rappresenta uno dei tanti aspetti della crisi iniziata con la chiusura di Hormuz da parte del regime sciita iraniano. Il passaggio della Euribia ha rappresentato uno spiraglio subito richiuso: otto unità navali si sono tirate fuori prima che Teheran chiudesse di nuovo lo stretto.

This was the program of MSC Euribia, whose cruise experienced an “unforeseen” month and a half in the Persian Gulf due to the war in Iran and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. There were no passengers, no shows, and dinners with the captain. Only the reduced minimum crew.
The forced stop, however, seems to be concluding. According to AIS data, the unit of Gianluigi Aponte’s company is navigating at approximately 22 knots and has almost doubled the Musandam Peninsula, at the northern end of Oman, effectively being almost outside the Strait of Hormuz. The Euribia is proceeding in a convoy with other cruise ships: it follows the Celestyal Journey, the Mein Schiff 4 and the Mein Schiff 5 of TUI Cruises. Furthermore, the group also includes the Aroya Manara of Cruise Saudi, a ship whose final destination is Taranto, in connection with the Mediterranean Games in August.
Since February 28th, when the tension between the United States, Israel and Iran became an open war, approximately 17,000 passengers had to make do with what they had, giving up their trip while the ships remained blocked between Doha, Abu Dhabi and Dubai. In reality, the situation experienced by the Euribia represents one of the many aspects of the crisis that began with the closure of Hormuz by the Shia regime of Iran. The passage of the Euribia represented a break that was immediately closed: eight naval units withdrew before Tehran closed the Strait again.
