What I love about DC's Absolute Universe is that in asking the question "what if we put the heroes in a world where things are stacked against them?" we get a much more "real" feeling story, on the emotional level.

The Absolute comics feel relevant. They capture something about what it is like to live & work for something better in a world where the corrupt abuse their power endlessly.
