Senior Email Security Threat Analyst - Mexico-based Full-time Remote/WFH Position in Mexico for our Houston-based Client Job Overview Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Email Security Threat Analyst to join our cybersecurity team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in email security, threat analysis, and incident response, with particular expertise in Abnormal Security solutions. This role is critical in protecting the organization from sophisticated email-based threats and ensuring the integrity of our communication systems. Key Responsibilities Monitor and analyze email traffic patterns to identify potential security threats and anomalies Utilize Abnormal Security platform to detect and investigate sophisticated email-based attacks, including phishing, business email compromise (BEC), and account takeover attempts Develop and implement advanced detection rules and algorithms to enhance threat detection capabilities Conduct in-depth analysis of email-borne malware, ransomware, and other malicious payloads Lead incident response efforts related to email security breaches and coordinate with cross-functional teams to mitigate risks Perform regular threat hunting activities to proactively identify potential email security risks Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of threat intelligence findings, incident reports, and remediation strategies Collaborate with IT and security teams to implement and fine-tune email security policies and best practices Stay up-to-date with the latest email security threats, attack vectors, and industry trends Provide expert guidance and training to junior analysts and other team members on email security best practices and threat analysis techniques Participate in the evaluation and implementation of new email security tools and technologies Develop and deliver regular reports on email security posture, threat landscape, and key performance indicators to senior management Qualifications Required: Fluency in spoken and written English (EFset C1/C2) Current resident of Mexico 5+ years of experience in email security, threat analysis, or related cybersecurity roles Proven expertise in using Abnormal Security platform for email threat detection and analysis Strong understanding of email protocols (SMTP, MIME, DMARC, SPF, DKIM) and email security best practices Proficiency in incident response methodologies and experience handling email-related security incidents In-depth knowledge of various email-based attack techniques, including phishing, spear-phishing, and social engineering Experience with malware analysis tools and techniques Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation and data analysis Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Ability to work independently and as part of a team Preferred: Experience with managing the full cybersecurity incident response lifecycle Relevant industry certifications such as GCIH, GCIA, or OSCP Experience with additional email security platforms (e.g., Proofpoint, Mimecast) Salary: $45,000 to $60,000 Mex per month plus benefits
