I write about stuff despite the fact that the promised safety my intelligence and university degree should have given me were a lie: in late stage capitalism, as individuals, we are no longer valuable when tech giants want us hooked on AI just to sell their products to other businesses but selling our dependency on them with it (when something is free, you're the product)

Ungrateful and unmotivated as we are described, Millennials and Gen Z have come to see the promise of hard work and safety means nothing in a world where capitalism is getting to the end of individuals phagocytosis and so two things are going to happen:

Interest rates going up make everyone poorer. You might survive a bit longer if you own property but don't worry, capitalism is working to expropriate that from you, sending you into debt so every penny of capital you have, will become capital of the bank which just invests in billionaires venture.

Without a penny to your name and homelessness criminalised you either are able bodied enough to become a free worker as a convict or you'll be left to die and thin a population that, once exhausted it's purchasing power, really has no other use to capitalism.

I'm not catastrophising, we're here now.

I wanted to use the little match girl by Andersen as a reference but I still cry like a bunny when I just think about it just like I did when my grandmother was reading me the story, so I settled for an art piece I did this year, collage on canvas based on a spoken word piece which accidentally fits a bit too well because it's indeed about wealth inequality, poverty and housing, or lack thereof in the UK. It's called "All Money is Blood".
