"She said if a voter was already registered, they didn’t have to sign the statement on the form, but the worker still had to fill out the information. Any voter who requested a school trustee ballot did need to fill out and sign the form β€” even if they were on the list."

So much blaming the city for this! A Bill 20 bonus.

Alberta's new electors register slowed down the voting process. How will it be used?

Why Alberta voters filled out forms at the polls β€” and how the information will be used | CBC News

Municipalities are now provincially mandated to create and maintain permanent electors registers, or lists of eligible voters.

I took advantage of #AdvancedPolls to vote for #Edmonton's #municipal #election today.

Got off to a bit of a rough start when the very first person I had to interact with kept insisting that I wouldn't be able to vote with the ID I carried -- photo ID* plus a utility bill. 😳

Given I've voted like this for DECADES at every level of government, and as always had double-checked the rules before heading to the polls, I was not impressed. She did finally pass me along to the next stage where, as I well knew, my ID was perfectly in order.

I mentioned the incident to the second volunteer as I was quite concerned over the potential for her convincing people to leave as she definitely didn't understand the rules -- I was assured follow up will be happening. ❀️

*My photo ID does not match my residence, so I bring a utility bill as well that shows the service site of my residence, as per the election rules.

Know your rights/ID requirements!
