This was once the home of a wealthy Portugeuse emigrant who found his fortune in Brazil. Returning to his roots, he built this grand villa next to his parents' residence back home in Portugal.

This house dates to the turn of the 20th century, a time of mass emigration when over a million people left Portugal to escape poverty and returned as "Brasileiros."

Today, the palace is derelict awaiting renovation and the start of a new chapter.

So, I recently came upon this little - I guess - Complex of abandoned houses. They're all off of a larger ranch in Nelson County, VA. The first two houses appear to have been identical prior to the first's porch falling in.

I'm thinking these were maybe part of staff housing for the ranch at some point? Not sure, what are your thoughts?

Villa del Allenatore, The Coach’s Villa. Somewhere in Italy 🇮🇹

This abandoned Italian residence was once the home of a football coach and sports enthusiast who trained a local team. The house remains filled with trophies, team photos, and football-related paraphernalia.

The dining area, upper hallway and one of the bedrooms contain original wooden furniture that sits beneath frescoed ceilings.

🇮🇪 An abandoned cottage in Ireland

Years of unchecked vegetation growth have almost completely obscured this home from view. Clearly this humble home has been empty for some time.

I pushed through brambles and crawled under and around tree branches to get to the front door. It has been a while since I explored such a (relatively) untouched, abandoned home as this.
