These tracks once lead to Hubbrücke lift bridge across the Elbe river (just a few steps from here) and there was a railway station, #Elbebahnhof, nearby. The railway connected Magdeburg and Berlin/Potsdam in the mid 1800s. Today, these tracks are the only reminders of the railway line and the pedestrian walks are part of a lively promenade along the river, that takes you from the city centre to the biggest park and beyond.

This week's #TrainTrackTuesday features the village of #Tarmstedt. I just had to stop here during our cycling tour to take photos and lost my family. 😂 Of course I took a wrong turn and had to retrace my, uh, steps. Well, worth it. 😊

For #TrainTrackTuesday, I've got the #Handelshafen, "commerce port", in #Magdeburg again. I posted a close-up of the #building's fire escape in the background last week. You can explore some old trains and ships, but the #trainTracks are no longer in use. The area is not completely dead though, there are offices and a cool beach café/bar (with real sand!) on the other side of the port, with the Elbe river very close too.
