Did anyone else who played AD&D 2E in game treat infravision as heat vision whereby when it was used by the characters it would allow them to see at night and see like the Predator, but the ability had limitations such as that massive heat sources could temporarily blind them, difficulty seeing cold blooded creatures, etc? Or did you just treat it as "you can see in the dark?"

Just checking.

@HeyeBodo #ADnD2E and 3.x for me. Started with the former and played most with the latter.

I am still running a game of 3.5 Eberron for my group, but when I play D&D as a #SoloRPG then it's second edition all the way. It's the closest thing to a "toolkit D&D" and is very easy to chop and change things to my requirements.

For me it‘s:
#Adnd2e partly due to nostalgia bc I was socialized into the hobby through Adnd2e and because it is still a good and very module game from my point of view, if (!) one ignores the bloat delivered by TSR’s splatbooks.

#DnDBX / #OSE or the Basic Line of the game: it just works and has put a charm on be. OSE + Advances Options provides me with everything I want from a trope-y Dragongame.

#Shadowdark Masterfully streamlined version giving me Adnd-vibes. #dnd6e of the hearts, truely.

"Tucker's Kobolds" from 1987 is about giving weak #dnd monsters (honestly) excessive tricks including traps. It's a meme now, picked up on YouTube.

Looking through editions, there are zero references to kobolds using traps before it. #odnd just says they are weaker than goblins, basically the crappest humanoid. #adnd1e has them just fighting. #bxdnd says they "ambush". All before 1987. But #adnd2e (1989) has heavy reference to traps for them. TSR eating their own memes.

Just finished Stranger Things today. Usually I don't get sentimental while watching TV/films (okay, I always tear up at 'For the Love of the Game' and 'Mama Mia!' - at one scene in each movie), but the end today made me feel a little bit sentimental.

I actually consider writing an email to my buddys from school, with whom I started playing AD&D2e about 35years ago. We haven't met in one place for 30 years, but maybe they're in for a AD&D throwback weekend?

Is there still love for #Adnd2e ?
Gibt’s hier noch Liebe für #Adnd2e ?

did anybody ever play the #ADnD2e #Diablo II adventure modules? I have a copy of Awakening, and it looks interesting...

Every 5 years I get it in my head to run #ADnD2e and use some of my favorite material from the time.

Then I start rereading the rules and I realize that (like alot of folks) we just skimmed the rules, assumed we got it, and basically played #ADnD1e with 2e bits.

This is followed by an internal debate over running 1e, 2e, a retroclone, or BX with one of the Advanced Edition books for LL or OSE.

This continues until i never run the game, rinse repeat...
