In addition to the #Amiga #A2000 build, I also have an #A500 mainboard. No original keyboard or floppy drive, and I decided a while back that it’s going to suffer from modcons!. At the moment, it has a #Pistorm (Zero 2W/EMU68), a modified PC floppy drive, a PS2 optical mouse, and a USB keyboard with a Pico doing the scan code conversion.

I have Kickstart/Workbench 3.1 on a virtual SCSI drive provided by Pistorm, and it’s working pretty well.

Next up will be a design for a 3d printed pizza box case.

I'm a bit worried about the temperatures in my #Amiga500.
The CPU is a ST TS68000CP8 and according to the datasheet, the operating temperature range is 0 to 70°C. After an hour of activity, it is almost 80°C...
The Denise (OCS) has same operating range and stays under 60°C, so inside the range.
The fat Agnus (ECS 1MB) almost reaches 60°C, but I couldn't find a datasheet, yet. I suppose it's fine, too.
The MC1488 (U38) is the serial line driver, and reaches almost 50°C, although I can't explain to myself why - I have nothing connected and it is a high temperature for idle.
The 74F244 buffer (U35) in the RAM circuit almost reaches 50°C, too - also within the 0 to 70°C range.
The CPU is worrying me most.

Falls wider Erwarten jemand dafür noch Verwendung hat: Ich hab heute Abend einen ganzen Stapel alter Workbench 1.3.2 Disketten online gestelllt. Verschiedene Versionen für den Amiga A500/A2000. Die dürften alle um 1989 erschienen sein. Deutsche Releases, jedoch großteils auf Englisch, wie damals noch üblich.

Today, I received my #RGBtoHDMI for my #Amiga500 and the first thing I did after initial test was installing the audio board.
I had two options, #soldering it to the RGBtoHDMI, floating in the air, or at the back of the #RaspberryPiZero. I decided to try the first. Luckily there was enough clearance underneath to not touch any components. I did bend the legs of the capacitors a bit first.
The image is a lot clearer now, I'm satisfied.

Am Wochenende hatte ich endlich mal den letzten Sommer übernommenen Amiga 500 offen und auf innere Verletzungen untersucht. Alles fein, eine Batterie die auslaufen könnte, hat dieses Board ja gar nicht. Als nächstes braucht – und bekommt – die Tastatur viel Liebe. #vintagecomputing #commodore #amiga #a500

Vor einem knappen Jahr habe ich von einem Bekannten einen A500 nebst einem großen Pappkarton Disketten und ein paar Büchern übernommen. Ich war lange unschlüssig, was damit anfangen.
