I remember a few years ago when TikTok (and possibly others) found out about the #Zulu parade.
Zulu Social Aid & Pleasure Club never practiced segregation, but was a pushback against white-only #MardiGras Krewes.
Part of this pushback was parading in black makeup on their faces (they have always denied it was blackface) and grass skirts. Later, cigars, curly wigs, and gloves were incorporated.
This leads to the perception that the minority white riders are indulging in a racist stereotype, rather than the truth that they're following a more than century-old tradition led by a black organization that they're members of.
Anyway, that's why I won't be posting parade pics.
