„28 lat później” - człowiek mógłby uznać, że po tylu latach temat zombie został przeruchany wszerz i wzdłuż. A tu niespodzianka, papcio Danny Boyle powraca i gdy drugi sezon The Last of Us rozwalił sobie ryj, twórca ten, chcąc nie chcąc, przypomina jak to się robi. Owszem to nadal pozornie „film o zombie”, ale niezwykły. Czuć stylistykę pierwszego filmu, nawiązania do korzeni, ale poza tym jest tu też sporo dojrzałości i kolejnych innowacji.
