Per 32 ore non si morirà in Ucraina. Non si morirà dal pomeriggio di domani fino alla sera di domenica prossima, perché comincerà il cessate il fuoco per la Pasqua ortodossa: Putin ha ordinato con un decreto presidenziale all’esercito di “cessare le operazioni di combattimento in tutte le direzioni per questo periodo”, ma le forze armate devono rimanere comunque pronte per intercettare “possibili provocazioni nemiche” e qualsiasi “azione aggressiva”. L’ultima frase della dichiarazione è questa: “Presumiamo che la parte ucraina seguirà l’esempio della Federazione Russa”.
Zelensky, che aveva proposto la fine delle ostilità lungo il fronte lungo oltre 1.200 chilometri durante le festività avanzando l’iniziativa tramite gli Stati Uniti, ha concordato: “Le persone hanno bisogno di una Pasqua libera da minacce e di un reale progresso verso la pace” e ha rilanciato per procedere verso una negoziazione che porti alla fine totale degli attacchi: “La Russia ha la possibilità di non riprendere gli attacchi dopo Pasqua”.
Purtroppo, non sono molti a credere che l’esito sarà concreto: né da un lato della barricata, né dall’altro; in passato, le dichiarazioni ufficiali non hanno prodotto risultati, veri impatti sul campo. L’anno scorso, durante le celebrazioni pasquali, il cessate il fuoco di 30 ore si è rivelato inefficace: è servito solo ad entrambe le parti per accusarsi a vicenda di averlo violato. Analoga sorte è toccata all’ultima tregua proclamata per l’ottantesimo anniversario della Giornata della Vittoria, segnata da centinaia di violazioni registrata. L’altra “tregua energetica” (dichiarata per evitare attacchi alle centrale elettriche gialloblu in pieno inverno) si è rivelata solo un breve intervallo preparatorio prima di nuovi massicci attacchi su larga scala.
Bombe, esplosioni e missili fin qui non hanno smesso di volare e ammazzare civili che scappano al suono delle sirene antiaeree o muoiono ogni giorno: accade a Nikopol, dove un autobus è stato colpito da un drone, e a Zhytomyr, ovest di Kiev, una donna è morta quando un missile ha colpito casa sua.

Unfortunately, few believe the outcome will be concrete: neither on one side of the barricade, nor on the other; in the past, official statements have not produced results, real impacts on the ground. Last year, during the Easter celebrations, the 30-hour ceasefire proved ineffective: it was only used by both sides to accuse each other of violating it. A similar fate befell the last truce proclaimed for the 80th anniversary of Victory Day, marked by hundreds of violations recorded. The other “energy truce” (declared to avoid attacks on the yellow-blue power plants in full winter) turned out to be only a brief preparatory interval before new massive attacks on a large scale.
Bombs, explosions and missiles have continued to fly and kill civilians fleeing the sound of air raid sirens or dying every day: it happens in Nikopol, where a bus was hit by a drone, and in Zhytomyr, west of Kiev, a woman died when a missile hit her home.
