I took part in the peer review selection process for this year's #ZeroProject shortlisted nominees, which gave me a glimpse of the awards process behind the scenes.

Today, on International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the full list of all 75 award recipients was published: https://zerocon26.zeroproject.org/components/59341 🌱✨ During #ZeroCon26 in February 2026, all awardees will present their solutions at the United Nations Office in Vienna, Austria as well.

About to take off to Vienna, for the annual #ZeroProject conference. Our flight was delayed two hours and now, on the plane they kicked off by announcing that they take us as far as possible. Reassuring indeed. Who knows, maybe I get to give the satellite chat thingy on my phone a go today. Anyway, if you're also in Vienna, let me know. Its hard to describe the sinking feeling I felt, when I became aware of this. I am sincerely happy that right decisions have been made and a panel about overlays, containing no users with disabilities has so far been removed from the #ZeroProject conference agenda. @LFLegal summarises the situation where we are at with overlay companies who, instead of engaging with the community, have picked lawsuits towards respected community members and accessibility experts as their communication language. https://www.lflegal.com/2024/01/zero-con-overlay-panel/
