My aunt bought me this album for Christmas 1980, and it was the first record I ever owned. I still have it, and play it on the turntable all the time.

Released as the lead single in the US and second single in the UK from their album #ZenyattaMondatta, the song was written by #Sting as a comment on how people love simple-sounding songs. The song was re-recorded in 1986 as "De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da '86" but not released until 1995.

The band's third No. 1 on the #UKSinglesChart, it was also the #bestSellingSingleOf1980 in the UK selling 808,000 copies in 1980 alone. The song also charted in the top ten in Australia, #Canada.
