DavidZaragoza has two cathedrals. La Seo ("The See"), at the end of this square, was the more senior church, but El Pilar ("The Pillar"), to the left, was a popular pilgrimage site. It is named for a pillar where St Mary is said to have appeared to St James. The churches jostled to be the city's cathedral, until rhe Pope solved by the dispute by making them both cathedrals.
