Zero-Day Exploit in WinRAR File - Schneier on Security

A zero-day vulnerability in WinRAR is being exploited by at least two Russian criminal groups: The vulnerability seemed to have super Windows powers. It abused alternate data streams, a Windows feature that allows different ways of representing the same file path. The exploit abused that feature to trigger a previously unknown path traversal flaw that caused WinRAR to plant malicious executables in attacker-chosen file paths %TEMP% and %LOCALAPPDATA%, which Windows normally makes off-limits because of their ability to execute code. De eerste boetes zijn opgelegd voor het inrijden van een zero-emissiezone met een te vervuilende bedrijfsauto of vrachtwagen. Ook hadden de bestuurders geen ontheffing aangevraagd. Volgens veel van de gemeentes die sinds dit jaar zo'n milieuzone hebben waar op den duur alleen bedrijven met uitstootvrije voertuigen welkom zijn, heeft het maanden waarschuwen gewerkt: er zijn minder overtredingen en meer schone auto's.

Demand Minister Anand to Stop All Arms Transfers to Israel

In March 2024, then–Foreign Affairs Minister Mélanie Joly announced a halt to future arms exports to Israel, citing concerns about genocide. She stated that no new export permits had been approved since January 2024 and that Canada was committed to compliance. However, a July 29 2025 report, Exposing Canadian Military Exports to Israel, reveals that Canada has continued sending weapons, ammunition, and military components both directly and through U.S. channels despite claims of a freeze. These exports include training bullets, drones, and F-35 parts. Minister Anita Anand and the Liberal government maintain that all lethal permits were suspended in January 2024, but the report highlights loopholes that undermine Canada's legal obligations under the Genocide Convention. A newly uncovered Library of Parliament report supports many of these findings, showing that distinctions between lethal and non-lethal aid are misleading and that any military support contributes to the ongoing genocide in Gaza and the West Bank. Email Minister Anand demanding a comprehensive arms embargo by immediately canceling all existing arms export permits to Israel and closing loopholes allowing indirect exports via the U.S..
