#space science and flights are celebrated in international 🎉 partys. Around 2000 NASA chief Charles Bolden , former Astronaut of Spaceshuttle , founded in L.A. the Memorial Day . Every year on 11/12.4 locations offer this fiesta . Many cheer to this night including the ISS and Antarctica. However Russia have a different date and never took part in it.

April 12 is special in #space #history. In 1961, the Vostok 1 launch made Yuri Gagarin the first human to fly in Earth orbit. 20 years later in 1981, after several launch scrubs, #NASA launched STS-1 Columbia, the first orbital test flight of the Space Shuttle system, with astronaut test pilots John Young (of Apollo 16 Moon landing fame) and Bob Crippen. Am 12.April 1961 startete Wostok 1 mit dem ersten Menschen, der die Erde in einem Raumschiff umkreiste: Juri Alexejewitsch Gagarin.
