Bawx CinnabunbadgerI've recently upgraded my tray for gongfu tea and it's made making gongfu tea more enjoyable without clustering everything together. Today having "Old Varietal (Lao Shu Dian Hong) Feng Qing Black Tea" from Yunnan sourcing. Really strong and has already lasted me 10+ infusions without changing color and only minor taste changes.
I've had a wonderful tea from Yunnan Sourcing called "Sweet Potato." The smell is like baked sweet potatoes with cooking oil and the taste is like canned carrots. Overall a very delicious and unique tea. #tea #teatime #yunnantea #blacktea

🇨🇦🇩🇪🇨🇳张殿李🇨🇳🇩🇪🇨🇦Another tea purchase, this one being a "金针滇红" ("Jīn Zhēn Diānhóng" or "gold needle Dianhong"). It's a late-season tea from 2024 with leaves about 4-5cm long on average and the golden colour typical of a tippy tea.
I generally try to buy straight from the producers when I buy tea. This tea is from 风庆县 (Fengqing County) near 临沧市 (Lincang City) in 云南省 (Yunnan Province). The producer is 风庆茗纳百川茶厂有限公司 (Fengqing Mingna Baichuan Tea Factory Company, Ltd.) and by buying straight from them, I get as much money in the hands of the people actually doing the labour instead of rent-seeking middlemen. (I understand that this is not an option available to all, naturally. I just happen to be fortunate enough to live where I can do this kind of stuff.)

Erik EllestadFarmer Leaf Autumn 2022 Jingmai Black #2 was a small batch experiment in longer than usual oxidation. Lotsa dried stone fruit in the scent and slight minty bitterness in the aftertaste. (All Farmer Leaf batches are small, especially the black teas, which can be downright tiny.)

It was no real surprise that tea no 4 from the summer 2023 Ho Yum Blind Tasting Club was a Yunnan Sun Dried Black Tea. What was surprising was what a fine example of that type of tea it is.
