“Defund the police” is often misunderstood. It doesn’t call for the outright elimination of police depts. Proponents by & large want to redirect some funds now spent on #police forces to items such as #education, #PublicHealth, #housing & #YouthServices. The idea is that low-income communities will become stronger — & less in need of policing tactics — if root problems are addressed.
