oggi … 21 giugno 2026, torna una delle ricorrenze più amate da chi cerca benessere, equilibrio e un pizzico di serenità nella frenesia quotidiana.

La Giornata Internazionale dello Yoga, istituita dalle Nazioni Unite nel 2014 e celebrata ogni anno nel giorno del solstizio d’estate, invita milioni di persone in tutto il mondo a stendere il tappetino e dedicare qualche minuto a corpo e mente. Anche nel 2026 il tema ufficiale è

Yoga for Healthy Ageing (“Yoga per un invecchiamento in salute”)

invito a riscoprire lo yoga come prezioso alleato per mantenersi attivi, flessibili e in forma a ogni età.

Dall’alba nei parchi cittadini alle lezioni gratuite sulle spiagge, passando per piazze, centri sportivi e iniziative online, anche in Italia non mancano eventi aperti a tutti: principianti, esperti e perfino chi pensa di essere “troppo rigido” per toccarsi le punte dei piedi! Del resto, lo yoga non è una gara di elasticità, ma un percorso personale fatto di respirazione, concentrazione e piccoli grandi progressi.

Se nel 2025 vi avevamo raccontato la storia e il significato di questa ricorrenza, nel 2026 il messaggio è ancora più attuale:

dedicare anche solo dieci minuti al giorno allo yoga può contribuire a ridurre lo stress, migliorare l’equilibrio e favorire il benessere psicofisico.

Perché, in fondo, il miglior esercizio è quello che ci fa stare bene… con un sorriso e senza fretta. Namasté! 🧘‍♀️🌿

This morning's yoga class included:

- 5 minutes heart coherence breathing (5,5 breaths per minute, use a track like https://open.spotify.com/track/0ztPS3K6OBrbaQnyGqFLMh?si=7a8e8f2147754176 to guide inhales / exhales)

- modifying class on the fly because someone was still having wrist issues (byebye vinyasas, hello creative stepping backs)

- giving lots of options for poses "chose your own adventure" style.

- a nice 8 minute long savasana with a track that is scientifically proven to reduce anxiety and help relax (https://open.spotify.com/track/6kkwzB6hXLIONkEk9JciA6?si=a6918acf3f6c4b16 ) (*)

And it resulted in a great class, even I felt energized after teaching it!

And after the workout, I joined the yoga class because I was curious about the style.

How to turn me off your yoga classes in five easy steps:

1. Have incense burning when I enter the room
2. Have music with lyrics playing
3. Do not shut the fuck up during meditation
4. Offer few to no modifications during asanas
5. Do not ask for permission to make adjustments during **savasana**, when I am laying down with closed eyes, and on top of that, use essential oils.

Today I decided to deviate from my standard teachers and try a class by someone new to me. It was not a good choice.

Her cues were confusing, her timing was off, her breathing was hurried (to the point of me taking one inhale in her two breath count) and all over the place (not always the same length breath), adding a 2 minute balance flow at the end & over five minutes in butterfly as a "cool down" before savasana.

I have (sadly) started a list of teachers with whom I will not take class.
