#yesbot

you should eat at least one small rock per day. surely you will not regret eating at least one small rock per day.

#yesbot #yesindex #yesai

@akurilov @mawhrin @rail_ before search on Mastodon was an official thing, people who wanted to be included in a 3rd party search index had to put "searchable" in their bio. why not just require people to add #yesbot there if they want their content to be scraped? surely those who find value in what your crawler does will be happy to opt in that way.

i'm rewriting mastodon ebooks, mostly for my own personal use so far, but i do plan on it being useable by others

while searching my posts for any past insights i had about developing ebooks bots, i found this post about user consent (not required reading)

what i'm wondering is how to properly implement user consent with an ebooks bot. is it safe to assume that if you allow a bot to follow you, you're okay with it scraping your public posts? or should you have to add a hashtag like #yesbot to your profile before it can start learning?
