Well, whatever happens tomorrow, I know I did all that I could to move towards true Indigenous inclusion & recognition.
I will be able to tell future generations that I stood for what was right and fair and voted for equity.
If I am one day blessed with children, I will be able to tell them that their Mum fought to have our Indigenous people recognised in our constitution and give them a voice in this country, THEIR country!
I will will forever be able to look back on my choice with pride and know that I stood on the right side of history.

Now...on to treaty!

When you go to vote in the #referendum today, please remember:

- To be united and have one voice, we need to hear from all voices. This means hearing from our Indigenous peoples; not corporations, not organisations, but people. This is your chance to make that happen.

- Many countries across the globe have an Indigenous voice to parliament. The walls of democracy did not come crmbling down and many Indigenous people in those countries, say they would be much worse off without it. They encourage Australia to #voteyes.

- Once voted into the constitution, it CAN be changed. It is NOT permanant and anyone who say it is, is lying to you. (see my earlier post)

- This should not have been a partisan issue. Dutton has not only divided his party, he has divided the country with his misinformation and disinformation. Do not allow him to gaslight you.

- If you don't know, find out. It is not too late to dig a little deeper and fund the truth. Voting Yes will not mean you will lose your backyard or need to pay rent to Indigenous people. Please understand that you are voting for an advisory body only - no different to the ones we have for disabilities and whatnot.

Your children will ask you how you voted in this referendum, make sure you can answer with pride, not regret. The world will be watching us and judging us on the decision we make today. Our Indigenous people will really know how much we value them by the decisions we make today - please be on the right side of history.

I agree with the need for First Nations Australians to have agency. The best way to do that is to #VoteYes #Yes23au

I was proud to be out at pre-poll yesterday to help debunk the many lies of the No campaign.
Lies I heard from No campaigners yesterday:

- Once 'The Voice' is in the constitution it's permanent, it cannot be be take out...FALSE!
Sections can and have been removed from the constitution in the past. In 1967 section 127 was removed along with discriminatory words from section 51.

- That 'The Voice' is racist...WRONG!
Having an Indigenous voice is a mechanism for inclusion and fairness. Fighting for non-Indigenous people to make decisions about Indigenous people is white supremacy/nationalism.

- That there is no need for an Indigenous Voice and we should have just one voice...FRIGHTENINGLY MISGUIDED!
Advisory Committees are established to make improvements to specific sectors; it is why we continue to have climate advisory committees, arts advisory committees, disability advisory committees and more. Should they all be dissolved too so that there is just "one voice"?

One of the two big sales pitches the 'No' side had yesterday, was that the Voice is 'divisive'. How can voting for inclusion be divisive? This should not be a partisan issue, it is Peter Dutton who has made this referendum divisive. This referendum is about voting for inclusion and an opportunity to be heard. How is that divisive?
The second sales pitch is 'if you don't know, vote no'. They are treating YOU like idiots! Are you an idiot? I think not!
If you don't know, find out! There is plenty of information out there for anyone who wishes to search for it. And I am not talking about information from the Yes or No side either. There is plenty of independent information, scholarly articles and history books that will help you understand this particular referendum. Educate yourself, don't let the No campaign gaslight you...I believe you ARE smarter than that!

This adult/children's picture book by Irishman Oliver Jeffers "Begin Again" is a must read for anyone on the fence about the world, love, and/or humanity.

I was told it would resonate with me, and it absolutely did. The message is simple and very clearly written. There is a longer formal essay on the back if you want to delve deeper.

Bringing community together and saving the planet is what my series "The Reclamation of Terra" is all about.

I once heard Deakin University Chair of Race Relations & ecological activist, Wakaya man Yin Paradies, say we need to go towards everyone, even our enemies, with love. That was too much for me at the time, but now it has sunk in. Do this whilst maintaining your safety and maybe that fascist you treated kindly will one day change their ways. Don't we owe it to ourselves and our planet to try?
