How a 13-year-old discovered a possible Japanese wolf specimen

A new paper by Hinako Komori and two academics says a specimen she found could be one of two Japanese wolves kept at Ueno Zoo in the late 19th century.

"I walk with the wolf that is no more" - Toshio Mihashi

Pitch art for „山犬 - Yamainu" - a personal project of mine. It explores ideas of a remnant of a long forgotten past, the ghostly shadow of the Hokkaido wolf, one of the two extinct wolf species of Japan.

One of many iterations of an #illustration done for my personal project 山犬 (#Yamainu). I'll post some more versions of this one in the coming days.

I never really considered this a final illustration but more of a draft.

„Mountain winds. They rise up deep in the valleys, swirling up the young green leaves. Beyond, all you see are endless mountain ranges that fade away into the clouds.“

Another pitch art piece for my personal project ‚Yamainu‘. Inspired by the above quote from Kihachi Okamotos ‘Sword of Doom’ (大菩薩峠, 1966).

The calligraphy for the project was created by the amazing master calligrapher Aoi Yamaguchi.
