The UN report on Israeli security forces and sexual violence puts Israelis in front of a mirror. Some of them are ashamed.

#Ynet is a right wing Zionist outlet. The comments section is not a leftist space. But the most upvoted comment says "a badge of shame this horrific government stuck on us." All 10 highest rated comments blame Ben Gvir and #Netanyahu. Not one disputes the facts in the report.

The shame is real. But look at what it attaches to.

These readers are ashamed of Ben Gvir, because he is a convicted criminal with a history of extremism. They are ashamed this happened under Netanyahu. They worry about Israel's image abroad. But the occupation itself is not questioned. The genocide in #Gaza is not questioned. The framing is: our people did bad things, and it makes us look bad. The underlying project is never put on trial.

The official propaganda from Danon and the Foreign Ministry says the UN is antisemitic and corrupt. Those comments exist on the site too. They get downvoted. So the party line fails, but the alternative is not solidarity with Palestinians. It is a more competent, less embarrassing management of the same apparatus.

A mirror was held up. Some Israelis flinched. But mostly at the reflection of their own government's incompetence, not at what the apparatus actually does.

#Eurovision's organizers (#EBU) are reportedly considering moving Israel from Eurovision Europe to the new Eurovision Asia competition in Bangkok this November, according to #ynet, which is relying on anonymous sources. This comes after 5 countries boycotted Eurovision 2026 over Israel's participation in connection with the Gaza genocide.
