#YAGS is one of my earliest games (and I've made a *lot* since then), but it's one of the games I'm most proud of
It covers coming out and making friends in college, and was intended to cover the gay male experience in a way I hadn't really seen

One of the problems I've had in the past with #RenPy games is typos in updating variables
For example, in #YAGS, I once typoed
$affection_jake = 1
where I meant
$affection_jake += 1
turning an inconsequential decision into a run-breaking choice
I've been using CDSes to prevent that problem for myself for a while now (turning the above into "affection jake add 1" instead, which is cleaner, more understandable, and impossible to screw up), and now I've cleaned up the code and made it generally available!

I sat in on PatchrickPlayer1 streaming #YAGS last night, and it got me on a kick of watching old LPs of my games, and it got me thinking... I don't make games like that anymore
Like I feel like YAGS and YAGS: Booty Call and Earth Boys Are Easy and Charles 2.0 and At First Sight all had some creative *spark* to them that I've been unable to replicate (or maybe just haven't been chasing) since then
At least some of it is how burnt out I am with the day job (and its effect on my gamedev), but in general... I don't have ideas like I used to, so gamedev has turned more into coding exercises for me, and it turns out those aren't as fun for players ๐ โ
I currently have three WIPs that I need to finish, but maybe after that I'll try to go back to a traditional visual novel and see if anything clicks there

Okay, I think the Match 3 stuff I've been working on is going to become the basis of the next #YAGS series game, tentatively studied "ZAGS: Study Pop"
I've nice-ified the UI a little, and implemented in notebooks (score multipliers) and energy (additional turns)... still need to get presents in place, which will be usable powers to do things like remove specific slots of items
Anyway... progress!
