I just hate how the mega download for #Xplane Map Enhancement gobbles all my bandwith.

Today (and tomorrow) it's all about watching glaciers! The exciting thing is that we're now so far north that the glaciers go all the way down to the sea.

The Cirrus SR22 has a large windshield which provides a nice field of view – perfect for today's tour.

This morning, X-Plane 12’s ATC demanded my 777-3 stay at 24,000-feet for way too long, completely messing with the standard approach's vertical profile. I expedited descent with speedbrakes and high SPD to make the approach at KLAX. Weee! #XPlane #FlightSim

Mule Creek CBS4 → Tanis Mesa AK69

After takeoff, I went over a small mountain range, which required an extra loop in the old Cessna to gain enough altitude.

After that, I followed the rivers down to the Pacific coast, where I chose one of the available grass strips for landing.

Skagway PAGY → Mule Creek CBS4

A route absolutely perfect for a hand-flown Cessna 172.

At the destination, there was strangely a King Air just sitting there alongside the gravel runway, I've no idea what it was doing there ;-)

Juneau International PAJN → Skagway PAGY

Today I was able to fly in camouflage. The paint job of the Baron matched some of the landscape along the way exactly ;-) (see the third image)

There wasn't much room for the approach in Skagway: I had to fly into the rather narrow valley and make a 180-degree turn there in order to land on Runway 20.

Did you know Juneau is Alaska’s capital? I totally didn’t: had my money on Anchorage 😳 Never too old to learn something new!

The RNAV approach here is quite interesting. It gets you close to the airport, but the final leg has to be flown visually, after a 15° right turn to line up with the runway.
