CeceliaI just learned about XFN relationships meta data profile. Mastodon does something similar for website identity verification. I’m curious about who’s gonna be publicly identifying their crush (if not a celebrity).

Friendly reminder how creepy some early standards were which tried to show connections between websites and the people running them.
The 'XFN 1.1 relationships meta data profile' standard defines rel="me" which we use now for Mastodon verification but it defines rel="crush", "sweetheart", "muse" and "date" as well and maybe we should revisit some old standards and remove those creepy things.
