If you want to program 16-bit 27C400 ROMs like #Kickstart ROMs or #vintagemac ROMs, the #TL866-II programmer is out of production and all sellers sell the #XgecuT48 instead. Even if they claim that it's the TL866-II, it isn't and you'll most likely get a black T48 instead.

The T48 is not compatible with the adapters sold for the TL866-II, it's wired differently and the socket is the other way around.

Luckily now there is an adapter for the T48 also:

New blog post: Updating scan list

I want to close my AWA RT85 with some progress

Haven’t worked out the CTCSS module or frequency encoding yet

I can change the scan list to local repeaters

Got the updated repeater list from the WIA

Played with VLOOKUP in LibreOffice

Also, conditional formatting, but had to file a bug

Also copying the 2m FM call freq to […]

New blog post: EPROM switcharoo

Working on Updating channel memory on decommissioned AWA RT85 radio

Managed to desolder the original MC27C16 EPROM

The heat gun approach worked a treat, particularly as it had a 50-450°C range, so I could avoid overheating the board with only 150–200°C

Dumped the EPROM data, and re-loaded it on an AT28C16

Put a DIP24 socket in […]

New blog post: To kill a chip

Received the handy header for the BusPirate

Wired everything, and somehow fried the ATMEGA328

When programming from the Arduino IDE, it now complains as follow

avrdude: stk500_getsync() attempt 1 of 10: not in sync: resp=0x00

New blog post: Updating channel memory on decommissioned AWA RT85 radio

I have an AWA RT85 2m radio, programmed for VK2 Ham channels. Now in VK7, I’m working on reprogramming it, by finding how and what to write to its EPROM.
