It often feels like I'm among the few who like their xenofiction with a nice dose of naturalistic realism. I'm not necessarily talking about early works in the style of like... White Fang or Bambi, for example, since that's kind of what they set out to do, but also for works that lean heavier on their mythic or cultural aspects like Warrior Cats or Guardians of Ga'Hoole.

The former especially; I've been in the WC fanfic and roleplay scenes for a bit, but no one ever seems to like portraying typical cat behavior and created culture the way the early series used to. Plenty of fans debate that accessories such as ornamental feathers or collars should be fine, but at the same time they wave away the fact that wearing a collar means all the stuff that being a housecat entails applies, or the fact that things like nuzzling, mutual grooming, and scent-marking territory is just sort of what cats do.

IDK I just wish you didn't always have to pick a lane of either fully animal or fully human. The fun of xenofiction is they can be both in so many different ways I think.
