@cleantext I mean, lets be realistic: #Netbooks that struggled to run #WindowsXP ain't something people were crazed about (besides the excellent #EeePC which came with it's nicely customized #Xandros-based #Linux desktop that put the 7" 480x800px screen to good use!)…
- OFC one would today rather pick a #Pi0 v1.3, #Pi0W or #Pi0W2 which are all faster, more power efficient and cheaper instead of hardware (soon) old enough to legally buy liquor in Germany.
Not to mention being able to basically run everything off 5V makes it trivial to "outsorce" the "power problem" to some cheap USB powerbank with multiple ports.
- So yeah, "#Ghettohacking" a #Laptop that can even do a #GUI is cheap and relatively easy these days...

- Yes it is a failure of us who are #TechLiterates to increase #TechLiteraxy but it's also a failure of #education globally to teach anything but being a "#User" who's ignorant beyond mousing #Microsoft products. (See shitty certifications like #ECDL!)…
It's sad that #Xandros on the original #EeePC seems to be peak #Linux #Desktop when it comes to #TechIlliterates...

- Nothing to this day comes close in terms of "user friendlyness" aiming at "#TechIlliterates".
It's basically peak #FrutigerAero and it ran off 256MB RAM!
- We really could taka a page from it's book!
Personally, I think #Xandros as was preinstalled on tue #EeePC701 4G is *peak #FrutigerAero if not #perfection in terms of [#LoDPI]-#UI & #UX!

Óli Gneisti (English)I think #MyFirstDistro was #Ubuntu in about 2007 as a dual-boot. Soon after I did get an #EeePC netbook with #Xandros pre-installed though I mostly ran #Eeebuntu on it.
When Ubuntu made some changes I went with #LinuxMint and have never looked back.

@mrencyclopedia @zarel @starshine had to replace the keyboard, the battery was rubbish from day 1, the SSD comically slow... but otherwise it refuses to die and I love it. Still perfectly white, no yellowing whatsoever. Came with #Xandros originally. 😊 Quite snappy with Haiku.
