Look at the Stellar [XLM] giveaway on Keybase and realize that got axed due to massive flooding despite:

• only accounts made pre-announcement were eligible
• Stellar is a shitcoin with of sub-cent pricing at the time.

Now imagine what the same organized Resellers that scalped PS5 & Xbox Series could do.

• Something that Valve certainly must be aware if 5 years later.

So no, they won't subsidize their hardware because they'd have to break their advertising promise of it being a device owned by the buyer for that to work.
