How about a configuration format that is actually format agnostic? Something like this:

Then you just run it like that 🤯

# Edit data as temporary TOML file

I'm certainly not going to ask anybody for permission. But if they have a non-empty policy I'm thinking we should just grey out the Share button like we do for private posts. Permanently. That way they can continue pretending they're safe from criticism and I won't get blamed and de-federated for any Mastodon posts that get quoted without permission on this side of the fediverse.

If somebody wants to do the asking and check if quote posts are authorised - they can create an addon for it.

The change to add the misskey relation to FEP-e232 a few months back brought us to 14 competing standards. This is literally ##xkcd927.

Installing FOSS apps on your phone sometimes certainly feels like an eternal XKCD 927 purgatory.

- Apps by GrapheneOS for some GrapheneOS apps (and assorted ✨other✨ apps).
- Obtainium for installing apps directly from source/repos.
- Neo Store for installing apps who cannot be arsed to have .apk files in their repos (#AntennaPod), yet without dealing with the typical F-Droid shenanigans.
- Accrescent, because hell, why not! The more, the merrier!
- And, of course, Google Play Store for the corporate goblins.

This is the kind of thing that makes non-engineers look sideways at #engineers. It even started well! A, B, C, D, E ... before it went off the rails.
