We had a wonderful board game night with the boys. Wyrmspan (my first time, won with 98 points), Scotland Yard (won as the criminal in 5 player game) and 6 Nimmt! (won).

But more important than the games (and definitely more important than the wins) is that we had a lovely evening with old friends.

Great game, different from #Wingspan

Tried out Wyrmspan today and loved it! We played two games back-to-back, and strangely I did much better in the first game than the second (by like 30 points).

This is so much more than a reskin of Wingspan, both deeper and crunchier. The cave and guild mechanics are fun additions with lots of potentially powerful synergies. The action economy is also more complex because players have the option of spending coins to take extra actions.

Mechanics aside, I'm such a slut for games with good flavor and Wyrmspan has it in spades. There's even a lore book with fun facts about the dragons and worldbuilding. We had a lot of fun reading about the dragons we had played at the end of each round.

Our Monday gaming group has grown a lot over the past couple of years. It's been exciting to see! It was just four of us back in 2021. Now we have between 9 and 12 regulars showing up. I'm also proud of our wide age range of 20-76(?). All lovely people!

We kicked things off with #TurboDrift. This little #Buttonshy wallet packs a whole lot of awesome!

I had an appointment to get to, so we played #Overboss. Quick little tile laying game. I love the artwork, and it's always a fun one.

Then half the group played #Finspan and my half played #Wyrmspan. Wyrm feels like too much of a struggle to me. But it's fine. #Wingspan is still my favorite of all the spans. And not just for the birds, which I can't stop staring at (in game, and irl). Three are so many more cool card interactions. It always feels satisfying.
