"I'm tired of not being able to see your face!" Xie Lian hisses, stomping over to Wu Ming. "Even I take off my mask to eat! What are you hiding under there? Some horrible secret?"

"Your Highness should not have to see it," Wu Ming says, standing perfectly still. "It's ugly."

Xie Lian rolls his eyes. "I fought in the same war you did," he says dismissively. "I saw plenty of ugly things." He reaches out, snatches Wu Ming's mask away, and...

"I brought a spare," Wu Ming says. "Just in case."

Xie Lian stares at him, incredulous. A painted smile stares back.

Wu Ming glances frantically over the ocean floor. There! A crevice he might just fit into. He squirms into it, noticing only in the back of his mind that it's a little more... pliable?... than he expects. Rocks can't be pliable, so he figures he's just stressed and imagining it.

The huge predator fish drifts by, clearly not seeing him. Wu Ming relaxes just a little.

Then the crevice in the rock moves. Wu Ming tumbles out of it. Once he rights himself, he looks up... and up... and up, until he sees the most beautiful, most /impossibly gigantic/ merman looking at him with an air of sleepy confusion.

Thinking about transfem Wu Ming in a Wu Ming survives AU... (I'm going to use he/him pronouns for Xie Lian, but I think maybe Xie Lian transitions too at some point.)

Once Xie Lian learns that his beloved, devoted ghost is a girl who's always been told she's ugly and (separately, and indirectly) that she can't be a girl, he has a MISSION. He has no idea what girls like. He has no idea what poor people do to dress up. But he is Determined and he Will Make Sure that Wu Ming feels So pretty and confident.

This mostly results in a lot of badly made flower crowns 😆

But it does work! Or... more like, Xie Lian's determination itself makes it work, because Wu Ming doesn't care much about anyone else's opinion!

And now Xie Lian has created a monster, because a confident Wu Ming/Hua Cheng is of course going to go around flustering him on purpose instead of just accidentally. Good luck, Xie Lian!

Can the mers have tentacle piercings? Because I'm thinking about Calamity adding a little tag (like the type a dog would have on a collar) to one of Wu Ming's tentacles, at the base or something, where it absolutely won't show when his slit is closed.

Winter #Wulian AU where the shackled banished god that almost destroyed all of Yong ‘An but was saved by his ghost soldier (who survived and been traveling together) decides to rest after walking for hours in the heavy snow.

While they rest, XL notices that WM is collecting small batches of snow and making them into a ball a few feet away from him. Looks like WM is trying to build something, a snowman maybe.

As he observes, XL gets an idea. He collects some snow from near his foot and forms it into a ball. An unsuspecting WM receives a hit right on the left shoulder making him drop whatever it was he was building.

They stare at each for a few silent seconds before both of them jump and start forming snow balls with their hands and throwing it at each other.

They go on like this for a few minutes where they both aimed with precision and evaded the enemy’s attack just as easily.

When the last ball was thrown aimed exactly at the top of WM’s head, they are both completely covered in snow, even inside their boots.

It’s going to take a while for them to clean up and maybe make a fire so XL can warm up and not get sick.

#Wulian in the dead of winter.

XL can’t use his ghost soldier to stay warm, the ghost can’t produce any heat, even artificial, on its own.

But XL refuses to let the ghost leave to find blankets or maybe sticks to light a fire. He is secretly worry that WM will leave him and don’t come back. Look for his beloved on his own.

WM has to watch as his Dianxia gets colder and colder as the weather take a turn to the worse, unable to do anything else. Both trapped on the barely standing old temple as the winter storm continues to drop layers and layers of snow.

Freshly descended Wu Ming in Mt Tonglu, having gotten the humans to safety, hiding out somewhere relatively safe and realizing he needs to take care of the wound he inflicted on himself

It's a strange sensation, cleaning his own eye socket. He gets a little distracted thinking of XIe Lian fucking it. Is it unrealistic? Yes, for several reasons. Is it also really, really hot? Yeah
