PS Plus May lineup drops a soulslike gem, a soccer sim, and a Chinese gothic nightmare
Every area impresses me anew. Look at the mist in the mountain region and feel the humid air! The music is also beautiful, so calm.
Welcome to the Whip Club: I’ve got a new weapon, the Lashing Whip, a hybrid between a longsword and a whip. It’s a real kink and a lot of fun. Wuchang simply whips enemies away with it. Whip, whip! I doubt I’ll find a better weapon in this game.
That guy all the way in the back is the classic gatekeeper of a soulslike – even though he’s not even a boss. I spent a full 30 minutes trying in vain to beat him. Now I just run past him, haha. But as soon as I’m stronger, I’ll come back and challenge him again!
After a few hours, one thing is clear to me: this is the most visually impressive soulslike I’ve ever played. The areas are beautifully designed and graphically stunning. I’m fascinated by how the plants bend aside when the player character brushes through them with their sword. And unlike my previous game, Lords of the Fallen, everything here is like buttered chicken – absolutely smooth, a real pleasure!
My next two games are Subnautica: Below Zero and Wuchang: Fallen Feathers. I have fond memories of Subnautica as one of the most unforgettable gaming experiences I’ve ever had. I’m looking forward to diving back down into Planet 4546B in this spinoff. And after my last game, Lords of the Fallen, I’m really in the mood for more Soulslikes. So it’s perfect that one of them is included in PlayStation Plus this month.
