People who bought and use #Bibisco , you'll probably get an email from the company asking for feedback. They are asking if their user base are wanting LLM nonsense in the software. Please, answer no. There are better, human driven ways to improve spellchecking and grammar. I wouldn't want yet another great piece of software to be infected with the LLM hype.

Today, there are many choices of software for writing. Word, Scrivener, Focuswriter, Final Draft, Obsidian, etc. Even so, there are diehards who won’t give up their pens, pencils, typewriters, or old school software. George R. R. Martin, for instance, has stuck with using WordStar 4.0 on MS-DOS. https://medium.com/@estavillo/the-writing-systems-of-prolific-authors-changing-your-writing-system-may-boost-your-creativity-9ae2aa551565 #GeorgeRRMartin #WordStar #WritingSoftware 13/14

Working with Scrivener

Scrivener, for those who don’t know, is a fantastic bit of software that helps writers to write. It is designed, as far as I am able to tell, for ease of use and for all types of writers from…

e-ink readers help me to read long books. Maybe e-ink writer decks could do the same for writing?
> Probably as a direct result of the increasing spamminess of the internet in general and Windows 11 in its own right, over the past few years a market has emerged for WriterDecks—single purpose writing machines that include a keyboard (or your choice of keyboard), a screen, and some minimal distraction-free writing software.

Soooooooooooo.

If I was looking for software to encourage a writing streak / habit and -

A: Had a community attached like #NanoWrimo but NOT Nanowrimo,

Or

B: Was just something solo for me, myself and I,

Which would Definitely NOT KNOWINGLY feed my writing into any LLM's and is also FREE...

What would y'all suggest ?

I made a list of the most popular writing tools.

It's a good place to look at, if you're searching for a new program, or you're starting out.

You can also vote for the ones you use/used.

Most Popular Writing Tools | Royal Road

This is a list of the writing tools people use the most. I'll update the ranking when I can. You can vote by posting, for example, Scrivener (+1); if it's not on the list I'll add it. It would also be good if you tell your experience with them. You can only add a (+1) per writing tool, but you can vote for more than one of them. Some of them (...)

#writerscoffeeclub Feb 4 What software do you use to write?

I start in Word Perfect, which has been my favorite for over thirty years. I like the layout and the ease of reading background code. When it's time for editorial, I move it to Word, because one thing WP does *not* do well is track changes and comments. Besides, Word is basically industry standard, so.

I tried scrivener. Used to love it. Then got frustrated and moved back to what works for me.
