Long black hair, flying in a wind no one but she could feel, framed a blackened and bloated face. It was the face of a corpse returned from the grave.

With a creak of leather and a gasp, Darius shifted suddenly. “I saw the eyes!” he shouted. “Down the gulch, toward the mine entrance. It’s a Yucca Man! Jesus heavenly Christ, give me the lantern!”
…Darius swung the lantern around wildly, showering the light on cactus, weeds, creosote bushes, rocks, a hillside, and more rocks.

Jack shivered involuntarily as he watched the writhing of the multitude of connections, impulses flowing in and out of the visualization, bursts of terrabytes going at the speed of light. This was his third time beholding Collective in its place on the cloud, and still, he found even the simulation of his organic brain unable to process the scope of it.
Nearby, Nuki's avatar, a green dragoness covered in "magical" runes, hung from a set of wires made of pure light, jerking about involuntarily as the hivemind's thoughts flowed through it uncontrollably. He didn't understand the process beyond that, he didn't understand how someone could link to it and still come out comprehending it.
Then again, Nuki had been around for over a century, and the last few decades of that existence had been entirely virtual.

Describe a monster from your setting or story.
Remember that "monster" is a very broad term: monsters can be anything ranging from everyday humans who do monstrous things, or just another word for a misunderstood creature.
That said, these may not be relevant to every story: asking a character, “Have you ever killed anyone?” may not be a relevant question in your story, and that’s ok. Conversely, if you’re writing a story for mature audiences, you might ask why not: plenty of people kill people in real life, and not necessarily as a crime, and plenty of people who haven’t can tell you an interesting story of someone who has.
With all that said, go ahead and look at the #WritingHorrors tag for the first one...
We’ve been talking for a while about creating a #WritingHorrors series, similar to #WritingWonders / #WordWeavers / #WritersCoffeeClub, but for #writers of #horror, #DarkFantasy, or who just want to enhance their #writing with #dwrk elements in general.
This will be a series of short questions with a few longer #WritingPrompts mixed in, intended to help improve yourself as a #writer, and to improve whatever #story you’re working on.

Well, I've been saying all month that I need to roll this out, but every time I try to sit down and write out a whole thing, something like a hurricane shows up and completely derails whatever I'm working on. Between that and the election, it's already Halloween night, and I haven't even thrown down any description for #WritingHorrors.
So rather than waiting another year, I'm just going to blast it out...
