Well, can't say I'm surprised in the slightest. If anything I'm surprised there weren't more stories like this sooner.

WSFS, like FIFA and the Olympics, need to take a country's record into consideration before awarding events.

Just got an email about the programming schedule of the #ChengduWorldcon.
The online offering is 2.5 hours per day. I did know that I couldn't really watch, because Finland is 5 hours behind China, but still. (9.30-12 in the morning means 4.30-7 am for me.)
Is the #HugoAward ceremony going to be available somehow? I could not figure out whether it's going to be streamed or at least recorded for later watching.

This morning's email from #WorldCon2023 unsurprisingly had quite a few Chinese characters, which some email filters mark as spam. Maybe we should all whitelist chengduworldcon.com?

Does anybody know what's going on with the #Chengdu #WorldCon / #WorldCon2023? I'm seeing a lot of folks posting about their awards-eligible writing and it's making me realize we've heard nothing about the #HugoAwards yet - and that it's been over three months since the website for the 81st Worldcon promised that those of us who voted in site selection at DisCon 3 would get emails "soon" about our supporting memberships. No email yet for me - has anybody gotten one? Or is it still too early?
