I'm not usually into poetry and grand literature, but reading Borchert's works about World War II and its aftermath at school left a lasting impression on me. So whenever I see memorials or #graves from that time, Borchert isn't far from my mind. George W. #Bush himself spoke of a #crusade when he launched the Iraq War with a lie. It is truly alarming to see that humanity has not progressed since the Middle Ages and that religion is still used to justify wars. The propaganda may have improved today, but the lies are still so cheap and transparent that it hurts.

The war lasted more than seven years, cost $3 trillion, and killed 3,482 U.S. service members and about 200,000 Iraqi civilians.

Today, war even has the potential to trigger a world war. Trump has destroyed the world order and plunged the world into chaos. No one can say anymore whether peace will reign in the Middle East tomorrow, whether the region will be completely destabilized, or whether World War III will break out. 😱

I even suspect—and this is just a conspiracy theory—that the so-called Christians in the Trump administration want to deliberately bring about the Apocalypse because they see the Last Judgment as an opportunity for their religion and would like to see the unbelievers judged by God.

There is something _very_ unusual in the accompanying photo, and once you realize there's a #submarine floating in the channel leading directly to #LakeMichigan, some hundreds of yards away, you might not be aware that it's actually a #maritime #museum that hosts tours throughout the year.

The #USS #Silversides (SS-236): is a Gato-Class #WorldWar II submarine that is restored to its original running specs and is ready for visitors.
