TAPIR FACTS!!!!

tapirs can use their prehensile nose as a snorkle while swimming! they love water and are great swimmers!

tapirs have four toes on their front feet and three toes on their back feet! they are odd toed ungulates and related to horses and rhinos!

tapir pregnancies last for 13 to 14 months and they have just one baby per pregnancy! tapir babies have a pretty striped pattern and are the cutest animals on this planet. they stay with their moms for up to 18 months!

there are 4 species of tapir: the Lowland tapir, Baird's tapir and Mountain tapir in South and Central America, and the Malayan tapir in South East Asia! all of them are threatened species :<

tapirs have a critical role in their ecosystems! they are important seed dispersers and are sometimes called the gardeners of the forest!
