For #WorldJellyfishDay & the 1st prompt, dangerous, for Blobfest month of #InsertAnInvert2024 it’s a smack of jellyfish!

The collective noun for a group of jellyfish is a “smack”. This amuses me, because I imagine them smacking their tentacles together in some sort of deepsea high five. To be honest, marine biologists speak of ‘blooms’& we do tend to lump in a bunch of soft-bodies marine creatures into the term jellyfish, 🧵

Happy #WorldJellyfishDay 🌊

Did you know that a group of jellyfish can be called a bloom, a swarm, or a smack? Interestingly enough & despite the word “fish” in their names, jellyfish are not actually fish. No bones about it, they are invertebrates!
