To celebrate #WorldFolkloreDay, here's a quote from Jim Henson I agree with 100%: "As I've grown older, I've been attracted to fairy tales and folk tales, and the rich quality of these stories - grown richer as they have gone through generations and generations of telling and retelling."
Happy #WorldFolkloreDay !
This is your seasonal reminder that you are Folk.
Folklore did not stop evolving 100 years ago. Or with books. Or with television. Or with the internet.
Your own culture's folklore is yours to cherish, preserve, update, reimagine, play, live, and pass on better than you found it.
Today is 22nd of August.
Today is National Tooth Fairy Day, National Bao Day, National Pecan Torte Day, World Folklore Day.

i'm intrigued by the Dartmoor tales of the white hare.
Tales vary: some refer to cunning folk shape shifting between white hare and human form, luring new lovers away from their former lives.
Others refer to maidens forsaken or betrayed whilst in love, then passing away tragically, only to return as a spirit white hare to haunt their former lover.
Seth Lakeman sings a beautiful song he wrote about the white hare
#Today is apparently #WorldFolkloreDay.
Devon #folklore encompasses tales of pixies, witchcraft, ghosts, & other supernatural creatures & weird happenings, with Dartmoor as the setting for many of these.
The tale of the ‘Hairy Hands’ was one that particularly caught my imagination as a child - a pair of disembodied hands that appear and suddenly grab the wheel of a moving car & try to force it off the road! This & more at https://visitdartmoor.co.uk/myths-and-legends
What’s your favourite folklore tale?
#WorldFolkloreDay The eguzkilore (the flower of the sun in Basque) is a quite mystical flower:
Amalur, the Basque goddess of the land, gave the eguzkilore to men to protect them from the evil spirits and the sorginak (witches) who would get out at night https://beautiful-basque-country.tumblr.com/post/20170332686/the-eguzkilore-the-flower-of-the-sun-in-basque
