Sometimes, I have the suspicion that they are actually being racist, exhibiting an overly patriotic mindset in which they only want their country to dominate. They use "the decline of America" as justification for threatening other countries, employing tariffs against China as a means of control. They will use any mistake made by China to justify everything they want to do. They claimed that China implemented reciprocal tariffs, and then they used that as an excuse to increase the tariffs to 140%. I must believe that "Make America Great Again" may be a sign of one entity's maximalism. Meanwhile, China and the CCP have already told the world that they are there to prosper together, providing opportunities for other countries to develop. If they truly believe in freedom of speech, they should also listen to Chinese officials who state that "a trade war has no winner.

Japan wants win-win outcome from tariff talks with U.S.: PM Ishiba

Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba on Friday instructed his close aide Ryosei Akazawa to conduct upcoming tariff negotiations with the United States for the benefit of both nations, as he pledged a whole-of-Japan effort to address a 'national crisis.' Ishiba said the government should combine resources across ministries and agencies to urge the United States, Japan's closest ally, to retract a spate of tariff measures implemented by President Donald Trump. The effort should be focused on protecting Japan's export-driven economy from the expected fallout. Economic revitalization minister Akazawa, who is expected to travel to the United States next week, vowed to

#US & China Headed for ‘Monumental’ Split, Putting #WorldEconomy on Edge

A deepening #TradeWar could further weaken ties between the superpowers. The effects will reverberate everywhere.

The brinkmanship displayed by the 2 countries has far exceeded battles waged during Trump’s first term. In 2018 & 2019, Trump raised tariffs on China over 14 months. The latest escalation happened in just days, w/far higher levies & apply to more goods.

Trump's sweeping tariffs take effect, Japan among 1st to negotiate

U.S. President Donald Trump's most sweeping round of tariffs took effect early Wednesday, with his top trade officials planning first to launch negotiations with Japan and several other allies. Under the newly imposed scheme, major U.S. trading partners, especially those in Asia, face much higher tariff rates, with goods from China hit by 84 percent, Cambodia 49 percent, Vietnam 46 percent, Thailand 36 percent and Japan 24 percent. The tariffs targeting almost all countries and regions worldwide, announced by Trump last week, have rattled financial markets and raised fears that they could upend the global trading system and hamper economic
