But it's not really repairable. Custom, copyrighted components designed to keep the company afloat, available only through controllable humanitarian channels.

I'd take well-standardized open source any day.

@koen_hufkens I don't put blame on you. It's a great story; share it! The ambivalence of the topic comes across clearly in the article. However, I disagree that this applies to all #charity. The article even mentions #worldbicyclerelief seem to draw significantly above-average amounts of money from the company, compared to similar #ngo – and, in case of its CEO, fund hobbies with it that increase #climateinjustice. I think that's useful information to have before giving money away to charity.

@koen_hufkens What I find even more interesting and irritating is how an #ngo like #worldbicyclerelief makes a business out of #charity. "It’s the American way of doing development work. Loud and inefficient and self-aggrandizing, polished and big money. [K]now that if you give #wbr some money, a child will be helped to get to school. But also know that about 60% of that money goes to overhead, and over 2% goes straight into a millionaire CEO’s already very deep pockets." #bicycle #bikepacking

The Pedal to Empower 2024 event is a wrap. I finished the 250 mile ride yesterday afternoon after 16 hours in the saddle. My folks came down to provide support and a delicious lasagna post-ride meal. My fundraiser brought in $2,553 of the $4,125 goal, but it's open for the rest of the day. 🤞🏼
