I took a Neuroanatomy class once that required 24 different colored pencils to take notes. That was in the days of overhead projectors that had a roll of transparency film and a crank. It made for an excellent parody on the last day of class. I guess that today they wouldn't even bother with a PowerPoint stack...straight to video.
